    bigimg_WackyBar

we saw the ad last week and decided on a whim to go for it. it was a pay-as-you-can kind of preview. we got a pretty good deal — rm25 each and a free ticket for the elderly who lived in pj. [they were trying to get the pj crowd!]

so, though tired out, i dragged my feet there — actually the elderly lady drove. so much for chivalry and gallantry! and the other older lady was already texting us while we were headed there. that day, another elderly lady had commented that i was wasting my time — spending it with old people! anyway, i digressed.

we reached the place and found out that it was free seating. the place was new. not as big as klpac but viable for smaller and cosier performances. it was packed crowded — everybody wants a freebie! the cast was a great corwd puller — more than 12, i think.

the first half was a little draggy and slow. they were a little nervous, i suppose. but mostly the flaw was the script. it was a little too contrived for comedy. so the comic punches were hardly visible. and because it was a comedy, nervouseness didnt do much to the cominc timing — it sort of flatted out right after the first 10 minutes.

there were two acts — three parts in each act. each part displayed a situation you would find in a bar. part 1 fell flat right after the first 5 mins of awe. part 2 continued drunkenly bad with two women acting badly as drunks — trying too hard. i blame it on first night jitters. the thrid part had some acting promise and the two leads had better chemistry and less, much less nervousness. although patrick teoh as Wacky, the bartender, was fun and proved a great distraction with his comic one-liners.

the second half proved fabulously funny, lapsing only in minor places. mostly the actiing was not nervy and i felt comfortable watching the scenes unfold. though the storylines (or lack of) were not that new, it was a refreshing take due to the comic timing of the actors.

the people that stood out in the second half: Junji Delfino and Elaine Pedly. but i think the ladies i went with were taken by gavin yap and rashid salleh in the first half. however, we were all a little amused by iedil putra's performance as the asian male escort.

  • a recap of the few mornings i didnt blog

dark violent rain pelted the earth between two and three in the morning. a cacophony of rumblings, groanings, woke me up. no lightning, no ozone made. an accident happened near tanjung malim. a car skidded due to aqua-planing. the people in the vehicle suffered no trauma, but the car did — value-added with the towing.

    ****

i yelled out in my sleep and woke up — this hadnt happened in a long long while. no increased heart rate though. just uneasiness. it was 3.33am. the night was quiet.

    ****

the grass was moist with dew and a little more hope than usual.

    ****

woke up and started to finish reading a book. non-fiction.

the haze shrouds the sky — no yellow glob. the smoke fuelled from peat fires envelops a greater part of the heavens. i cant see the blue — screened and unclear like the news, like the words that spread the political scenes. and in a way i can smell the residual peat fire from a distance through the silence the haze conspires to spread and permeate. i think i should stop reading the newspaper and find better reporting elsewhere.

  • an eleventh hour report 4 sept 2009

the haze this morning jaundiced the sun. the glob of yellow could not define its boundaries. though light is present, haste is also present. too many stuff to do and recollect in time for a morning report. time embraced me and the lesson unfolded in undulation.

i am relaxed today: calm on all fronts. there will not be any duels this noon and i think i will finish my work on time.

  • morning report 2 sept 2009

golden, the streams illumine an eastern patch, lacing the nearby light grey bluish clouds with a tint of yellow. the streetlights are still up though the bluish glow lingers. stretching through the road, following the lights, my eyes see a large patch of double rainbow, seemingly at the end of the journey. passing the sight, golden light seeps through the cracks of the clouds. sky blue can be seen through some pockets of clouds.

this morning, my dad exuberantly wishes me, "happy birthday"; so too my heavenly father.
